    Fisher Price Wild Animal Safari

I wish I could say this is mine but it belongs to a good friend of mine. This is was my first FP Adventure People set as a kid and while most my original set remains intact, I gotta think it's been almost 40 years since I've really looked at the box.

Looking at it just makes me happy.

The comic strip on the back sent me into a nostalgia tailspin, I don't know how I've resisted searching ebay for this!

The only FP toys I had as a kid was the Roly Poly carousel, the wind-up "radio" that played Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and a lapsitter doll named Elizabeth, (which was mine by default, my foster sister left it behind). I always wished for Little People stuff, but I never asked for any of it, b/c....well...(and my apologies for how this sounds), but I never thought black kids were supposed to have these. The only kids I knew w/ these were my dad's boss's daughters, who were white. I didn't know any black kids w/ these toys. We didn't even have any in my nursery school/ kindergarten, which was prodimently black. I never even heard of Adventure People until I joined this forum. But I remember some of the other toys from other kids I knew like the Chatter Phone, the push toys, the Grandfather's Clock and others. One school I used to work in had lots of FP Little People sets, and a basket of at least 50 or more Little People. I think my fave set was always Main Street.

Absolutely wonderful, so many happy memories of playing with that set. The FP Adventure People toys really were some of the best toys I ever had, they got tons of playtime from my friends and I. I love the packaging, but honestly I have very few memories of the packaging, unlike my vivid recollection of Mego packaging, Star Wars boxes, etc. Seems like it's getting harder to find the Adventure People playsets in nice boxes anymore without paying a high price.

Every time you post the Adventure People stuff, I question how I could have possibly missed all this great stuff!

I had that as a kid. I think Santa brought it the Christmas of 1975. I had to have been only 2 at the time.

I still have mine, heck my 5 year old plays with the cage and animals in the bath tub still. Those toys took a licking and kept on ticking.

Funny thing, I have no memory of the box it came in either.

I had and still have the set to although a couple pieces are missing. My niece plays with them all the time.
I have nothing but good memories playing with adventure people as a kid. I still have many sets that are intact all these years later.

Here's a little adventure people story I dug up for you guys that I posted back in august on my birthday.

"I had a Zen like moment recently when it comes to adventure people let me explain..
I just turned 40 a couple weeks ago. On my birthdays as a kid I would always get adventure people as much as star wars and since star wars stuff would fly off the shelves where I lived I would get more adventure people toys. My mother kept all our toys that we didn't destroy as kids and my niece plays with them today.
On my birthday a couple weeks ago my niece was on the ground playing with one of the action vans which has stood the test of time. I got it for my birthday in 1979. I picked it and just stared at it thinking of all the good memories I had with it. My mom brought out our family albums later that day I found a pic of me opening that same toy on my bday in 79 and the excited look on my face! I got really choked up..I would love to post the pics but my scanner is down for the moment.
Well that's my story and keep the stories coming! Adventure people was as big as star wars or gi joe in my childhood!"

Yes, the FP Adventure people were really great. I had many sets, figures back in the day. I loved all of them, but the ones with the scuba divers, boats, subs, really got my attention. To this day, Im a scuba diver, and I really have the Adventure People sets to thank for that. All that playtime in pools, the bathtub, ponds, springs, etc, really had an influence on me, so Thank You FP for the Adventure People. Although they are not made anymore, they have truley stood the test of time....Awesome toys....
