    The 1980 Remco Catalog

1980 was a growing year for this offshoot of Azrak Hamway as they expanded their line of Super Hero action figures, reintroduced the Universal Monsters to 80's kids, while continuing to offer old favorites like Batman utility belts and KISS makeup. Check out the 1980 Remco Catalog here.

Remco was REALLY mowing Mego's grass, weren't they? Some nice stuff there. I did a double take on those patches that came with the Powerized heroes. I still have those Spider-Man and Captain America patches. My faulty memory told me they came from a gumball machine! Weird thing is, I dont' think I ever owned the smaller Powerized Spidey. Did the full-sized "Energized" Spidey come with a patch at one point too?

Great catalog Brian. Thanks for sharing!

Big time! It must have been really galling to Mego to see their Superhero line expand like this.

I really liked those Remco Universal Monsters. The Mummy and Frankenstein figures (including their boxes) actually survived through my childhood. I now bring them out every year at Halloween and display them for a few weeks.

I wonder if the 9 in monster protoypes in these pics still exist

I own a full boxed set of these including the Phntom,Creature and Monsterizer but those
early hand made samples(even just one) wd be awesome to have in there too!

Anyone have any info on those or their possible wherabouts?

I'm sure there are many other Universal Monster collectors that wd
be ALL over them as well !!

Gotta love the "Earthquake Tower." If it was made today, people would be up in arms because how savage and non-pc this toy is.

I like the description, "Turn a real disaster into hours of imaginative, exciting play."

REMCO made some really great superhero toys in the 70s. They were right there with MEGO and AHI. Classic, classic pieces.
