    PodStallions #15: Rod Serling

This month's show is a celebration of Television icon Rod Serling and is exploration of his career and legacy. Even though he passed away in the mid 1970s, he had an impact on pop culture that is still strongly felt today.

Episode 15 talks about his life, the Twilight Zone and his career after that including Planet of the Apes, the Zero Hour, Night Gallery, Phantom of the Paradise and something called Fantasy Park.

That was fun. I learned a lot I didn't know about Serling, not that I consider myself an expert. I do consider myself a fan of the Twilight Zone, even though I confess to there being plenty of episodes I've never seen.

TZ is one of those weird shows where I can't pinpoint WHEN I first encountered it. I think I knew of it before I ever saw it. Maybe the Golden Earring song, or the commercials for the film. I do recall watching it pretty heavy in high school once the Sci-Fi channel came to town.

The only bad part about these shows is the month wait in between them! But I understand that more now that I do this type of thing myself!

            Another enjoyable podcast--thanks.

I, too, never warmed to the Twlight Zone film, probably partly because I remember all of the drama about the off-screen death of Morrow, but I do remember liking some of the 1980s revival, and the original show has always been a favorite. I'm glad in recent years TCM has shown Carol for Another Christmas to show some of his non-anthology work.

I've always had a lot of respect for J.L and hearing how he respected the wishes of Rod's widow made my respect for him just that much greater.

I have to admit......I think about the Gremlin episode of TZ every single time I'm in a window seat on a plane, without fail lol. I think it affected me at an early age, what can I say?
