Tarzan in the Valley of the Dinosaurs

Given my unhealthy obsession for all things Tarzan combined with my love of Rack Toys, it should be of no surprise to anyone that I flipped out when I saw this.

It's so great I'll forgive the fact that Tarzan is clearly a giant!

Rack Toys: Cheap, Crazed Playthings is a limited edition 144 page book from the creator of Plaid Stallions. Order from us and get three free promotional post cards.

Tarzan's gotta be a giant if he's going to wrestle those dinos.

Tarzan no giant. These small dinosaurs. Tarzan no like fighting big dinosaurs. Also tiny baby dwarf elephant. Never mind why Tarzan keep him around...

Love the Owend By sticker. Misspelling and all.

Clearly there was an issue because the bottom has a similar (but correctly spelled) sticker. Looks like somebody at Fleetwood didn't check with Legal. I'd mock them but I did the exact same thing about ten years ago with Warner Brothers.

I was half-expecting that odd DC Tarzan ad for Pom Poms that ran in the early 70s. It was drawn by Joe Kubert and had something to do with Tarzan and a "Lost World" type place, as I recall.

Looking at this I just realized that the AJ Lost Continant would have been A NO BRAINER for a Tarzan playset, along with the unproduced Tree House for 1 million BC

That's a great piece, I totally would have bought that as a kid. Heh, I didn't notice that "Owend by" sticker before. Wonder what happened legal-wise. Guess it was so last minute, not only did they have to use a sticker, but did a rush job on it and spelled "owned" wrong.

From the title I thought this was gonna be a cartoon crossover, b/c there was a Saturday morning cartoon in '74 called Valley Of The Dinosaurs. (some eps on YouTube) I thought Tarzan was gonna meet the Butler family!

That would have been mind-blowing to me as a kid. I'd have loved to see something like that, because I loved both those shows.

It was also a tie-in with Aurora models. I remember seeing that in various comics as a kid and thinking it was sad the ad was cooler than the comic it appeared in.

                      You mean this one?

Tell you what. It's really tough tracking down some of those old candy boxes. So far, I've only found 2 that I was willing to pay the asking price.
