    1978 Empire Toys Catalog

Empire Toys was primarily known for two things, licensed big wheel type vehicles for kids and licensed vehicles for other companies action figures.

1978 was no exception with Empire licensing characters such as The Flinstones, Batman, Spider-Man and Mickey Mouse into a lot of fun with wheels.

Huh, the Batman Cycle this year is similar to the one I own (and owned as a kid), but it's more "kiddie-fied". The bat head on the front is the same. The graphics make it look like it came from 1966. An odd step backward. Weird!

I never even knew the Hot Cycle existed until I moved to CA. All the kids on my block in NYC, (except me), had Big Wheels. And those machines look sweet, especially the Superman one!

That catalog is awesome.I had the Hot Cycle and my friend Mike had the Blue Max I rode that Hot Cycle till the wheel rotted.I like the Flintstones Banks and as much as I like and collect Hulk he shouldn't be anywhere near a van or a helicopter.

With Empire, I always think of the Legends of the West line, but I see neither catalog has that line featured.

Wanted: Legends of the West (Empire & Excel) and other western historically-based figures. Send me an offer.
Also interested in figures based on literary characters.

I used to have the Spider-Man copter as a kid, but I can't remember.... Was it scaled for 12 inch or 8 inch figures?

I don't remember what scale those helicopters were for either I'd like to say 8 inch but the windscreen looks like it flips up so you can put a 12 inch in there.
