Plastic Galaxy Star Wars Figure Documentary DVD Jan. 14
Got my copy a couple days ago and finally got to watch it today and really enjoyed it. Perfect mix of interviews with toy collectors and toy makers, with just enough of the technical stuff to be interesting and not overwhelming. Will be watching it over and over with anyone who is willing to sit through it with me.
I was kind of surprised at how much of the lore I already knew since I'm not really a SW collector, but I guess it's just always been so prevalent in our culture.
Will be watching it over and over with anyone who is willing to sit through it with me.
Funny- I thought the same thing!
As mentioned before, great mix of collectors and Kenner folk. I could have watched more of the Kenner guys telling stories, but then you always want to leave 'em wanting more, right?
From an editing and directing standpoint, excellent job. The music was just perfect. Love the title sequence!
I was afraid this might be just an expanded version of Toy Hunters, but the makers of this doc seem to still get the fun of collecting while delving into the world of the big name, hard core collectors (not a lot of talk about how valuable things are, a lot of talk about why they collect). Nice to see that Kenner guys seem to get it too!
Makes me sad that Kenner isn't around any more. Made me buy a Kenner t-shirt from ebay when I finished watching!
Totally looking forward to this. My collecting tastes have turned to Megos which I remember fondly but as a kid, when Star Wars hit I was smitten. I contributed to Mego's downfall as all my money went to George Lucas.
