My latest rebuild - Black Super Joe Adventurer

I was recently contacted by a fellow collector about rebuilding a black Super Joe Adventurer for him. Wanting to help a collector out and also needing a couple of bucks I agreed to the job. He also sent a SJ Commander for repair.

The Commander was a snap to rebuild and I got it done fairly quick.

The black SJ Adventurer was actually just the head with the white commanders body. I rebuilt the body, touched up the head, and then after a mixing job painted the visible areas of the body. Sent pics to the owner and he's happy with the results. Thought I'd share him with you.

    1) Rebuilt

    2) Touched up - Very happy with the paint match

    3) Finished Product

I also ended up with 2 black SJ heads for myself out of this. Good deal.

    Thanks for looking,

    Chuck

I've never seen a Super Joe in person so I'm still trying to understand. I've heard that they have rubber joints. Are they similar to the hip joints on Masters of the Universe figures? When you say you rebuilt him do you mean you replaced the rubber? Do you make new joints or are they a standard part like the O-rings in original Real American Hero Joes. Thanks!

I'm not sure how the hip joints are the new MOU figures but SJ figures were made of a cheap rubber that have long since dissolved. After many trial and error attempts at finding a replacement I've found one that works and allows limited mobility but I've since begun improving on it. I've probably rebuilt close to a hundred SJ figures for both myself and others using my method with no complaints (Knock on wood).
