    1981 Toys R Us Flyer

Toys R Us is one of the last toy chains we have left and the only one featured on this site that is actually still around. This flyer from December 1981 is a time capsule of what we could have expected under the tree, Barbies, Glamour gals, Atari games, Remco Monsters and Mego Superheroes.

It'll make you want to go shopping!

It's weird how Child World has Star Wars toys and not Toys R Us.

Hey! I have the Omni system and the Microvision, (but it doesn't work anymore), and as cumbersome as it is, I do still drag the Omni out every so often.

It looks like the doll market really started to suffer right before the age of Strawberry Shortcake and She-Ra, (not my thing). There isn't a single gimmick-y doll on that page. Pretty basic stuff.

These are wonderful and heartbreaking all at the same time. Look how delicious those Remco Monsters look together. Time Machine, please.

I had that Dukes of Hazzard wrist racer! When it worked, it was cool, but I recall it being a bit dodgey on the mechanism. I think I had that Stomper playset too. I know I played with it, and I believe it was mine.

Oddly enough I got my first Remco Mini-Phantom yesterday for my b-day!

Wow. Just love those old ads. Amazing stuff Brian. That just instantly takes me back. Thanks for sharing. I'm getting allot of that this morning. Think I will keep digging through old boxes.
