Gentle Giant Jumbo Kenner 12" Star Wars

they sure do look freaking crisp and amazing, but like so many others - I'd have no idea where to display sooooo many items which are soooo large. One or two, sure...but dang...
I'd have to bust them all free of their clams and stand em on a shelf.
Then, then when the new wears off, priorities change, or a new baby comes, or a divorce....I can't imagine the re-sell value is there (or is it?)

Resell value is there... For now. The hefty $400 price tag on the Wampa upset a lot of collectors, to the point that a lot of people vowed they were done with them. The size, price, and range of the line could end up burning itself out. But yeah, they seem to hold some decent value.

That said, I did manage to pick up the Stormtrooper for less than retail last week, which means I just need Sandpeople, Artoo Detoo, and Boba Fett and I'm calling my collection done. (First 12 plus Boba is all for me).

Of course, once they do Bespin Luke, I will get him too (my favorite childhood figure).

Anyone know what the edition size is for each of the figures? Depending on how many Gentle Giant makes of each figure, I think that will be a good indicator of re-sell down the road.

It just fascinates me to no end that they actually made it all the way through Star Wars and have put a good dent into Empire, plus assorted RotJ and PotF1. Definitely more vintage Star Wars fans out there than Mego to be able to sustain what is essentially a figure or two every month!

I bought that playset, thinking I'd display my vintage SW 12 inch on it... and it is H-U-G-E!!! That horizontal floorpiece is enormous, and too big for any of my cabinets. The scale on these things is so mindbending, I underestimated how big that playset would be.

It is just cardboard, and barely worth the $37. They had no business charging double that.

I picked one up thinking I'd try the same thing with my vintage 12 inchers (or in case I decided to start buying the GG ones) but yeah, that huge floor piece makes it impossible to display in most situations, unless you set it up on the floor or on a big table. Might just end up selling it. The box is really nice though. I think their justification for the high price tag was that it was "made in the USA".

Just purchased the jumbo IG-88 from Amazon. Got it for considerably less than the original MSRP. I'd really love a Jawa and Yoda, but they're pretty high on the 2ndry market. I think Gentle Giant still has Yodas in stock, but I'd like to pay less than $80 for these things.

Man, IG-88 showed up today and it's just MASSIVE. I mean, I've got Shogun Warriors but I was still surprised by the size of this, especially the card! I could see falling down the rabbit hole on these, but can also see how there is just no way to get too deep because of the money and size. There's just not enough room in my house for a significant collection of these.
