I have the Mattel Eagle One that's missing the three stun guns for the figures...and 3 of the Dinky Eagles (Green, White, & Blue). Strange, I watched it all the time when I was a kid, but never really got more than the Blue Eagle w/the radioactive waste canisters, and a little tiny Eagle that I had 2-3 of. (Long gone now...) I got the other Dinky Eagles & the Eagle One about 10 yrs ago. I'd love to get the figures, but for now I just have to stay w/what I've got.

Space 1999 did pretty well as a sci-fi series and it reached a total of 48 episodes over the two years it was produced from 1975 to 1977.
It was a British produced TV series (ITC) and many feel it did better than avaerage for awhile because it was the first serious sci-fi TV show since Star Trek left the airwaves in 1969. The series special effects were done by Brian Johnson who had worked on previous sci-fi including 2001 A Space Odyssey as well as Thunderbirds. Brian Johnson and his special effects crew would later go on to do the special effects for movies like Alien by Ridley Scott and The Empire Strikes Back. The spacecraft created for the show was designed more for actual functionality than just for looking pretty or "cool".
One big complaint was the sound level. Many episodes were filmed where the cast seems to talk like they are almost whispering all the time which quite a few viewers expressed over much of the series as being pretty annoying to try and listen to while watching. The other complaint was the fact that the simple idea of a massive explosion on the Moon being so powerful that instead of damaging the Moon it would rip the moon from it's orbit of Earth hurdling it through space was seen as more science fantasy than science fact. Plus the fact that the Earth itself would be devastated in many ways by the loss of the Moon.
Overall it is a fun series to watch. If you go to Amazon.com and look at the 30th anniversary set you can all 48 eps in one box set for a good price, and if you don't mind used in very good condition you get a anniversary set for under $50.
Or you could buy the individual DVD sets or even the deluxe DVD set and pay $100 to almost $200.

I've got these, the white one is my original I bought as a kid at Toy's by Roy in the local mall. These things were expensive for a kid, store had them displayed behind glass, impressive.
It's one of the few things I still have besides a Shado 2, a pair of Britains speedway motorcycles and a few other odds and ends. Somewhere around here is one of those matchbox size Eagles with wheels. I just wish I could find the waste drum things for the Dinkys?

I've never seen anything but the white one. Didn't know they had others. Pretty cool. Just too big to display. That's the main reason I don't do playsets or vehicles, I can't display em and I couldn't keep em in a box just to own em. I already do that with too much stuff as it is. Wish I had the room to display stuff like that. Nice collection!!It's not a doll it's an action figure.Comment

Well of coarse everybody knows in 1994 a run away planet will hurtle between the earth and the moon tearing the moon into two pieces.

About Megocrazys post. Yeah I hear you about playsets and vehicles. I also collect 1:18 scale 21st century WWII planes. Fantastic detail but too freakin huge to display properly. I hang them in the basement den and I can only put a few out cause of the wing span.Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.
In the halls of Valhalla where the brave may live forever.Comment
