1981 Ben Cooper Costume Catalog

Lots of memories in this one. As I got older, I tended to cannibalize the Ben Cooper offerings for pieces, and my mom would whip up the rest. I remember buying the Scooby-Doo costume only for the mask, and she made me a costume with a hood that covered me in brown from head to toe. For Captain America, I took the mask, a white sweatshirt, pair of jeans, and my Cap Underoos shirt to make a pretty convincing Steve Rogers. My mom made me a shield out of posterboard.

The Lone Ranger mask even looked like Klinton Spilsbury! Shudder...
