Pod Stallions Episode 8: Anderson is FAB

Seeing as it's September 13th, there is no better time to talk about the creative force that was Gerry Anderson.

Eventhough much of the man's output was done before Jason and Brain were even an idea, their timeless quality has fans talking about them to this day.

The guys show the evolution in puppets from Supercar to Captain Scarlet and the jump to live action with UFO and Space:1999. Mixed in with some discussions about Bond, Gold Key Star Trek comics, nerdy moments and of course, all the merchandise we could cram into a single show.

Wow! I missed this and will give it a listen on Monday. It really helps curb the suicidal thoughts.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

Hey Brian and Jason. I thoroughly enjoyed your latest episode. This was more educational for me, because I never drifted towards alot of what Gerry Anderson did. And that's not to dispute it's merits or quality. I was just preoccupied with other interests when his product was out there. Kind of in the same vein as the world of Dr. Who. Lots of fans, but I can tell you everything I know in roughly one sentence. But, as always, an entertaining listen and I learned alot. This is another aspect about the hobby that I love. I enjoy listening to the enthusiasm and reflection on interests that others have, even if they're not directly tied to my own experiences. Nothing beats hearing that kid come out as people describe their feelings from early experiences. Always a great time. Thanks for sharing that with us.

Thanks. Save Thunderbirds, I've only seen bits and pieces of the Anderson shows over the years, so this was very enjoyable to learn more about them. I've always thought they had an amazing world within them, and I'm glad to hear about some of the quirkier aspects for them. I definitely remember reading the bias against Space: 1999 and always thought that odd.

As someone who has never seen a single frame of ANY Gerry Anderson production, I must say that you guys know how to make an entertaining show! None of these shows EVER aired in my area, except for maybe the 90s re-airings of Thunderbirds (I seem to recall commercials for this), but by then I was in college and barely had time to catch all the BTAS episodes airing.

But as others have said, I learned a lot, and your enthusiasm is infectious!

I'm REALLY looking forward to some monster talk in October!
