Hey gang, I have been reading through some of the messages at the classic toy forum and I started wondering... Has/does anyone have, had, seen or heard of an old rubber ape gorilla that is about 8" give or take close to Mego height and is made from a somewhat soft yet a firm kind of rubber. Not a bendy. I know what those look like. The reason I ask is that I remember having mine from when I was a child and I am trying to find out more about it. I remember that it has (C) APJAC. I think the copyright date is 1976. This is why I "think" it might have been from the Planet of The Apes line. I realize that this is not a lot to go on and I apologize that I do not have a current picture right now as this item is stored somewhere in my attic. I had just now thought about it after reading through this forum and thought what the heck. Maybe someone here at The Museum more knowledgeable than I will know what I am rambling about here. Being a Planet of The Apes fan as a child and even now I do remember having it and was hoping that someone here could help. I have searched on eBay and Google and a couple of other different sites from time to time without any results. I have yet to see one like this. I am sure that it is not just some one of a kind and it was no doubt massed produced like everything else. Perhaps I am not looking under the correct description when searching??? HELP!!! Thanks in advance.

That sounds like a Ben Cooper Jiggler. As I recall they were a little smaller than Mego figures, like maybe 6 inches, and made of very pliable rubber. They had a thick string or elastic band coming out of their heads so you could hand them on things or just bounce them up and down. I believe they made a soldier ape and Cornielius from POA. Hope that helps.- Sweep -

Thanks for the link. Thanks to the help here from everyone I feel as if to be one step closer at solving this mystery. That is pretty close although it does not seem to be the exact one. It does look to be of the Jiggler line atleast I am thinking so now. The one I have as I recall him looks more like General Urko without the helmet. Maybe a cave man instead of an ape? I am still searching to see if I can find one closer. Thanks again for all of the ideas and help to those that have submitted so far.Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like.
