Mattel Clash of the Titans

Just got a loose set--sweeeeet! I love 'em as much as I did in 7th grade. I used to watch the film on HBO several times a week lol.

But something still bothers me, as it did then: No "wave 2". How about:

*Medusa with bow

*Perseus (red tunic) with Medusa head

*Andromeda with Bubo

*Zeus with lightning-bolt

*Ruined Temple playset with action-levers (like SW Dagobah), swamp pit, Calibos throne & cage, & Scorpion accessory


Ah, one can dream--I can "see" this stuff on the shelves even now...

Yeah, those are pretty sweet figures, and yes, they really flubbed the lineup. HOW they could have not made Medusa is beyond me. She's one of the two Titans for crying out loud. The least they could have done was give Perseus her severed head as an accessory.

HEY...waitaminute! Maybe ZICA could save the day with a retro "finish the line" line? I wonder...

No doubt. Instead, we got Charon. It's decisions like that which literally keep me awake at night.

My partner made the exact same observation about the lack of the "other" Titan...

Probably Mattel was too busy at the time developing MOTU to care.

One of my favorite movies of all time I wanted that Krakken figure as a kid I would liked to see a Cerbeus figure.

The Kraken toy has some design flaws but is nonetheless impressive. It's huge!

I love the lone but would have loved a playset of the Gods temple where they had all the small concrete or clay figures with the gods themselves

Would have loved a wave 2 including Zeus, a Stygian Witch, Ammon, etc.
And larger figures of Medusa, a giant Scorpion and Dioskilos would have been awesome.

Mattel did plan on releasing a Lair of Calibos playset and some Bubo items, but unfortunately it never happened.

I recall seeing Bubo & the role-play set solicited in Famous Monsters, but knew they were cancelled.

I too wanted a Medusa so I made my own out of green clay.

The card and box art is awsome! I vote for Medusa, she would have been a great addition. Seems like Perseus should have had at least a helmet and Bubo accessory.
