I would have really dug those as a kid! Saw a set on ebay not long ago and they were pretty expensive.

Well, aside from the similarity of the logo, they never claimed to be Super Friends geared.
That said, it is something we as kids woulda thought about for more than a minute, I'm sure.
There's a SUPER HEROES CHECKER SET from that era with a similar logo. All the main "Super Friends" were there (although the culturally-sensitive TV ones weren't).
What was interesting with that particular product, is that villains like CAPTAIN BOOMERANG, DR. LIGHT and THE SHARK were included, and LEX LUTHOR, of all villains, was left out."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

I guess I just wanted an excuse to mention the SUPER HEROES CHECKER SET!
P.S. The 70s licensing stuff fascinates me. These guys were in charge of our destinies BIG time."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'.
