    Vintage GI Joe help please

I picked this up at Eternal con this weekend out on Long Island.

I thought it was cool so I haggled my way to a price I could live with. I have been looking for 2 days for any info on the piece but have turned up nothing. Can anyone shed some light on this piece.

    The rarity? The price?

I don't believe I was taken but you never know.

Back-round on the seller: from Minnesota, large collection of vintage GI Joe's, in the middle of documenting his collection to put on the Yo Joe website so there can be an ultimate vintage 12inch GI Joe guide. he was selling off his doubles.

Description of the piece is a mailer box Dress Marine from Sears.

below are his card and a photo of the piece I bought.

    JOE CARD.jpg

The photo does not do the Piece justice, the outfit is as clean and crisp as the day it was put in the box, as you can see the hat is still shrink wrapped. The Joe has 1 tiny and I mean tiny stress crack behind his knee.

Thank you for any info you can give me.

Nice score. Not sure if I know that seller or not? The dress Marine set is actually one of the most common vintage GI Joe sets out there. It was issued in different packaging and as a promotional item for a number of years. The version you have there appears to be from the Kelloggs mail-away promotion. It is identifiable by the brass buttons on the jacket and pants. I think this is the best one they made, but it is not rare in loose condition. Having the original mailer box and with it being in mint complete condition, it is a desirable piece to the hard-core mint-in-box type guys. Heres a link to a recent completed eBay auction that will give you some idea of what its worth:
