1984 Ideal Toys Robo Force Catalog

Robo Force was a nicely designed series of Robot Action Figures that seemed to be largely influenced by Star Wars.

The line, despite an animated special was not a commercial success, this may have been due to Hasbro's Transformers launching the same year, really making Maxx Steele and his "Daleky" crew looking a bit old fashioned. The line endure cult popularity to this day and it's one of the last Ideal action figure lines to be released.

I had several of these, and even the Dredd Crawler vehicle. I really liked this line, but it seemed to kind of come and go pretty quickly. I used the figures as random robot enemies for years. I didn't realize it came out in 84...I would have guessed 82 or 83. I seem to recall thinking there was quite a bit of time between them and Transformers, but then again, when you are 9, a year seems like a decade!

They were a bit after my time, but they're pretty cool. They have a kind of Zeroids vibe (an earlier Ideal line, I wonder if they were any sort of inspiration). One of our very own members has a really cool story regarding this line (at first I couldn't remember where I had read it, but my google-fu brought me back to this very forum!):

This is kind of lengthy but totally worth the read. I recently came across a toy that does not exist and contacted a few websites about it. I ended up writing an entire article on it and thought I'd share it here. I even did a phone interview for a toy collection podcast. It's kind of blowing up as collectors are finding out

I had Maxx, my brother had Wrecker. I would love to get a loose, complete Maxx in good condition.
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

I just remember seeing them at Sears at around 15 years of age and thinking they were kinda cool.

I forgot about Spacecaps discovery, that's pretty darn awesome.

I always thought they were cute. Even the villains in set weren't exactly scary looking. Neat toys.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
