    Anyone Going to Megacon?

I was surprised how many people on this board attended the FX show when I posted about it after the fact. Now I am wondering if anyone is going to Megacon in Orlando the weekend of March 8. Megacon is mainly a comic book and anime convention but they usually have a few toys and a crap load of bootleg DVDs. The guest list this year is pretty lame but it's still a fun walk through. If any other Plaid Stallion alumni are going to be there maybe we can meet up.

I am going to take the fact that no one has replied to this post in over a week as a "No". I am rather surprised though based on the number of board members who attended FX this year. Megacon is certainly no FX but there is still a lot of cool stuff to see there and I have often gotten some good toys deals since it isn't predominantly a toy show.

Hey, I'll be at Megacon selling prop kits. My company is Arsenal Models. We are in booth 604 or something. I start my journey south from Pennsylvania on Tuesday PM. A good excuse to go back to Florida, its freaking cold here! Stop by and buy a prop gun from your favorite show!

Looks like I'll be there as well. I'll be displaying my Buck Rogers studio model replicas in honor of Gil Gerard and Erin Gray being there.

Not sure exactly where I'll be setting up the display, but presumably it will be near where the guests are signing if there's room.

Gil Gerard and Erin Gray are there EVERY year.

There should be plenty of room next to Gil Gerard's table. There are usually varen't many people getting autographs from him. Erin Gray gets a few more but she still looks really good.

The show will be in another location within the convention center this time (another building I think?), so the signing area is arranged differently. Apparently there is very little extra room, so I'm going to show up and figure out where everything will go.

Hmmm.....I am not sure how good an idea that is. Some of the guests only get wander through traffic as it is so moving the signing area away from the vendor area may seriously impact their autograph sales. This is already the weakest guest list in recent memory so they have probably picked a bad show to try this move out on. I hope Gil Gerard brings a good book with him this year.

I think I mis-stated that. The entire show is in the other building- not necessarily a smaller area, but rearranged from the way it was before. I don't think they'd move the autograph area away from the rest of the action- that wouldn't be smart.

So Megacon is going to be in the new section of the Orange County Convention Center this year? The building with the fan shaped design on the front of it?

Correct- if you check their website (MegaCon Convention), there is info plus a link to a map of the area. I'm hoping that this means parking will be closer to the building since I have to find a way to lug in my models.

Well proximity in that building is all relative, just like on the other side. How close you can get will depend on what section of the building the con is in. If it is in the back you should be able to park reasonably close if you get there early. If it's in the front, you are pretty much SOL since there is no parking there.

So who went? Did anyone stop by Gil Gerard's table and see my Buck models?
