    Tinkertoys...Again

In the late 70's my Great Grandparents gave me a set of Tinkertoys. I loved them and played with them for years. My parents threw them away sometime around 1984. I recently picked up a vintage set at an antique shop. Yesterday, while watching Six Million Dollar Man season 3 on DVD, I had the urge to build something with them in front of the TV. I ended up using all the pieces and having a lot of fun. Not sure what I built, but really glad I was able to reacquaint myself with these wonderful building toys.

I used to play with them all the time. Miss those days

          Hee heee....

Neat! As a kid my favourite was the giant set. I can't count how many injuries were the result of those. (Probably 'cos a significant portion were head injuries.)

I had a small set of Tinker Toys... and at school we had some in a box at the back of the class.

A great building toy, along with Lego, Meccano and Stickle Bricks.

I remember we had these in Kindergarten. Cool.

I loved playing with Tinkertoys as a kid along with Lincoln Logs and American Plastic Bricks (I never had Legos).

The new plastic Tinkertoys are big at my house. One of my sons even prefers them to Lego - I should probably have him checked.

Agreed, Lincoln Logs and Tinker Toys, pure creative goodness in a can. Tactile real wood! Sometimes I chewed on 'em... miss them now too.
