I remember when the Blackstar line came out the cartoon was already 3 years old and no longer on saturday mornings. Since I liked the cartoon, for a little while there I was hoping the toys meant the cartoon was coming back. Never happened though.

Forgot about micromachines (but how COULD I really?) I loved the commercials and they were traded all the time in school.

Remco was a AWESOME company I thought. Their Heman knockoffs were cheap and I could usually get them at the dollar store. I probably liked Remco toys more than any company in the '80s, I was buying stuff from them all the time.

I personally didn't care for the Defenders of the Earth figures. I didn't like the metal fists and HATED the huge knobs on their backs. Super Powers figures had better sculpts and action features without having a giant freaky knob sticking out of their backs. I bought the Flash and Ming as a kid. Hated the knobs so much a tried to remove it from the Flash figure. (At least the cape sorta covered Ming.) Unfortunately without the knob, the arms can't be posed and just hang there all floppy. Ended up in the trash.

STTNG was terrible in it's firsts couple of seasons and didn't lend itself too well to a fun toy line. From a kids point of view boring looking figures, which included a stuffy balding guy with a dustbuster molded into his hands, is not going to compete with more exciting lines like GI JOE, Transformers, etc.

Kids loved Micro Machines though. Cool idea and fun little toys.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

At the time the Galoob ST figures came out, you could get a GI Joe for $1 less than the ST figures, with more articulation and lots of accessories. It was a no-brainer for most kids.
