    Lincoln Monster Mystery

I've been been pretty much under the assumption that I'd seen it all when it came to Lincoln Monsters. Well, that fell apart this weekend when I got this photo emailed me to me.

These are the four perfect as the day they were made Monster figures shrunk wrapped to a card. To me, it looks like some sort of Catalog item, but which one and when?

If anybody can sheld some light and remembers getting the monsters in this fashion, please drop us a line. I'm delighted to have another weird mystery with regards to these kooky figures.

Looks like somebody bought their action figures at the butcher counter!

Maybe they were bundled with some leftover Mego AJ outfits!?! This reminds me of that whole Captain Eagle thing that has been posted here before.

Those are awesome. Man - I would have the hardest time not liberating them from that meat pack.

When I first saw this, one side of my brain said "ohmygodihavetohavethis!" and the other side went "Why? You have all those figures and all you're missing is cellophane and vintage cardboard". I'm like a mini wheat.

Weird, that's the kind of packaging you see on modern day mail order stuff, when I order a book from Amazon it usually comes shrinkwrapped to a board like this and put in a box. I don't recall seeing vintage mail order stuff packaged like this, but the design does make sense.

Hmmm... Are we sure this is a vintage original packaging thing & not a re-done shrink wrap on a piece or cardboard?

In discussing it with the owner, I'm leaning towards it being vintage. 1) He got it a long time ago from an elderly lady and 2) He says it's super brittle. Still doesn't mean somebody just went ahead and did this back in the day but it's a neat conversation piece....

When I was a kid, I got a Lando Calrissian figure from TRU that had been shrinkwrapped...I remember my mom asking why it was being sold like this. Turns out it had fallen off the card so the store just shrinkwrapped it and sold it that way (and for 50 cents, btw!)....I guess it's possible that maybe a few stores back then had this practice.

That really is a good theory.
