Sadly the "Disguise the AM Radio as other things" is mostly a forgotten art. Also vanishing is the "Give kids things with the budwesier logo on them" agenda. Judging by how much Bud I drank in my teens, mission accomplished.
Loved those goofy AM radios. I remember the holiday season in Radio Shack. The AM radios were shaped like puppies, kitties, smiley faces, just all kinds of things. I had a Toot-a-Loop.
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
I only recently switched from my Batman-shaped AM radio to my avocado green Panasonic Panapet AM radio a few months back (the Panapet went better with the color scheme).
Even as a kid I remember thinking it was strange that beer logos were on things kids might want in their room (remember the Bud can with the flickering green bulb light?). In the late 70's, my step-dad worked full a soda company called Shasta. He used to trade Shasta signage for all kinds of beverage signs for me when I was a kid. Needless to say, my sixth-grade bedroom was absolutely covered with really cool beer signs (and KISS posters).
I have that wrist radio in the Bionic Woman version.
