    Mego-compatible dinosaurs?

Just getting into a LC playset & then One Million BC figs.

Can anyone suggest Mego-compatible dinosaurs--I'm not confident I can afford OMBC ones.

Partially poseable and not too detailed would be great. I see some Playskool ones from the eighties on evilbay, but I think they are too small.

    Thank you!

Wow, that TRU is a biggun!

The Aurora dinos were the poseable ones? I remember them being much cooler than Lindberg's...

The Aurora Prehistoric Scenes kits were hard plastic but the limbs were jointed for very limited movement. Some of these kits have been reproduced over the years, including just recently by Revell, I believe. The big T-Rex kit was also reproduced recently by another company (in vintage repro box). Try MegaHobby.com or your local store, you'd likely find the repros there. But these are fairly under-scale compared to Mego dolls (at least the dinosaurs would be).

The big rubber dinos at Toys R Us would be another option, but aren't to scale either.

I'm not too hung up on scale--the Aurora reissues might well work.

Does anyone know how tall the OMBC Mego Tyrannosaurus is, as a comparison?

you might have some luck with the 1990's Playskool dinosaurs toy line (called "Definitely Dinosaurs") they made. Also at least a few of the figures from the video game based toy line "primal rage" dinosaurs should work (the 12" scale ones not the smaller0

The big Aurora T-Rex battled Mego Tarzan many times in my youth.

Having had many a battle with my aurora trex, I can attest that the coolness of that kit makes it in scale with anything.

The mego trex is a little over a foot tall. The aurora kit is more like 2 ft. Both are on my all time favorites list.

If you want a good idea of the size of the Aurora rex, here is a picture of me and one on the table at Wonderfest a few years ago.

It was recently reissued by Atlantis, complete with glow in the dark parts.
Can be found on most sites that sell model kits.

These are the ones that were reissued by Revell from 2007 through 2010 and can still be found easily on ebay.

If you want to get an idea of the actual size, check out this pic from another display we did at Wonderfest

And if you want to know any more about the line, feel free to browse my site

Or just ask me, I never get tired of talking about them.
