    Question for the Joe collectors

I finally picked up a muscle body Joe to put together. have the repair kit on the way from Cotswald. Any idea how to get the neck plug out of the head without damaging the head or plug?
any advice on rebuilding one? Surprisingly the Kung Fu hands are still supple.

Soak head in hot water for a few minutes- makes it more pliable. Use a needle nose pliers to grad the edge of the neck post (though this might damage the edge of the neck post).

This method works perfectly well. I do it all the time with no damage.

awesome. thanks!! how difficult is it to rebuild these? I have rebuilt numerous Super joe bodies, which are similar but don't have to worry about the head on those. I understand the cotswold kit comes with instructions but I have not gotten it yet

I've never restrung one myself. I save up parts till I get enough for 4 or 5 complete figures and then I ship the lot to APBJoe(Andrew Bruce). He does a great job of restringing them and the price is very reasonable. His turnaround time is also very prompt.

Use a hairdryer and blow hot air on the head for about a minute. It will soften the head and you can then pull the plug out with needle nose plyers.

Yep. I'm getting ready to send him 3 muscle bodies and a bulletman to be restrung. His address changed recently. but hes still doing buisness.

Robert Sampedro [email protected] also will restring them for you. I had him do a Bulletman recently and he did a great job and the turnaround was fast too!

I think he charged $14 plus shipping.

It's extremely easy to restring the muscle bodies with the kit you get from Cotswold. The only tricks are getting the torso and upper arm pieces apart (which is very easy given some patience and VERY gentle prying) and the elbow pins. You can just snip the old ones out easy enough, and placing the new ones isn't really an issue. For getting the body parts apart you can use a pointed wooden dowel (often supplied with the kits). Aside from that it's easier than a snap together model kit.

thanks for all the advice. Just finished my first rebuild and it came out great. was a lot easier than I thought it would be to pry apart the upper arms and the chest

Interesting, & helpful comments. I'd wondered about this process myself. I was thinking of getting an anniversary Palitoy muscle figure...

Does the heat from the blowdryer or warm water effect to flocking any on the head?

no effect on the hair. i did it both ways when rebuilding this one, warm water to get the plug out of the head and then hair dryer to put the head back on
