    1975 Pied Piper Toy Catalog

I've never heard of Pied Piper Stores, not surprising, as I didn't grow up in California in the 1970s. No doubt they were one of the many "Mom and Pop" toy store chains that at one magical time dotted our landscape.

One thing i do know is that Pied Piper stores had a pretty grasp of what was popular in 1975, the pages are brimming with the hottest toys of what was a great year. The Six Million Dollar man is present, as is Evel Knievel and more Mego 8" action figures than you can shake a stick at:

Time to find some storefront photos

Maybe they will be familiar by sight. The name doesn't do it for this Cali native.

Notice the Superhero advert for MEGO offers "The Hawk" !!!???!!

I'm surprised by the price differences between the various 8" lines. That's quite a big markup (in 1975 dollars) between the WGSH and POTA lines. It's nice to see that air hockey table prices haven't really increased much in 37 years. Great ad!

Interesting to see the Wizard of oz figures in the boys section and not the girls.

Looks like Captain Marvel lost his lightning bolt emblem for the photoshoot!

I'd love to see a clear scan of the 8" Mego stuff. Those look like really early figures, but it could just all be blur.

Who is "The Hawk"? I guess they mean "The Hulk". They already have The Falcon listed. We could go off and now propose Hawkman (or Hawkeye) almost came out in 1975...but we know better.

This is a great time capsule piece. I was only 1 in 75, but much of this stuff was still popular when I first started getting "real" toys, which was in just a few short years.

It was probably dictated to someone on paper. When tman and I chat his Jersey accent says The Hawk instead of The hulk. Took a few conversations before I figured out what he was saying.

Looks like general ape doesn't have any ribbing on his shirt, and Scotty might have the funky eyebrows going. The Woz ladies look a little off too.

All those Trek look like they could be pre-production.

                              Really cool.
Too bad there aren't any models in there.
The rest looks like a lot of fun though.
