A truly, truly, truly outrageous review.

I finally got one of the new Integrity Jem dolls. Yay!

I've never had one of their dolls before and wasn't even all that familiar with the company before they got the Jem license. So, I really didn't know what to expect quality wise. The quality of the doll is very nice with a few minor issues. First, the earring holes are too small for the posts of the Jemstar earrings. I had to make the holes bigger with a T-pin. Second, the hair is really glued down with styling gel. Took quite a while to get the hair combed out and looking nice. Lastly, the included Jem logo stand looks really cool but doesn't work all that great. There are two clip options for the stand post, under the armpits or balanced between the legs. Neither clips stay on securely.

The clothes are very nice. No complaints there. I'm especially impressed with the shoes. They are just like real pumps, only tiny, lol. The clothing is high quality but maybe a little on the delicate side. I don't think the doll could handle rough child play or a lot of redressing. Definitely a doll for the adult collector.

Accessory wise, you get a microphone, microphone cord, microphone stand and an extra set of hands. I personally like her holding the mic wireless like the original doll.

I would call their take on the classic version of Jem as sort of a mixed style. There's a bit of the cartoon, the Hasbro doll and the original box art. For example, the color of the dress matches the box art over the more pastel pink of the cartoon or the glittery metalic pink of the doll. She has a pretty face sculpt with very clean paint apps and rooted eyelashes. Overall, it's a nice homage to the iconic versions of Jem and a beautiful looking doll.

That's a really nice sculpt. Also, I never knew the original Jem was so tall. I'd always thought she was She-Ra sized, for some reason.

I forgot to mention the hair color on the Integrity Jem is a nice cotton candy pink. Very similar in color to the cartoon. The original Jem doll had mostly pale blonde hair with some pink down the back. Some dolls had more pink than others. The idea was to tuck the pink hair into the included beret when you transformed the doll to Jerrica. The hair on the Hasbro doll could also be a little sparse. The Hasbro Jem/Jerrica in the pic is my best one. She has the fullest hair and the most pink in color.

            I got Jerrica for Christmas.

She doesn't need a full review because she has the same positives and negatives as Jem. On the negative side, too much styling gel in the hair, earring holes too small and stand clips are too loose. A new problem was the thin plastic lenses came unglued from the glasses frame. Might have been from being shipped in cold weather? Easy enough fix and the frames themselves are very nice, metal with working hinges.

The positives are the same as Jem as well. Jerrica is a lovely doll with high quality clothing. The beret came with little pins to hold it in place but I didn't use them. Holds on fine with out them.

For accessories you get the glasses, clutch purse (very nice), extra set of hands and a doll sized cardboard tour album and magazine.

Unlike Hasbro, Integrity made Jerrica a separate doll instead of making her Jem or Jerrica depending on the fashion included you used. The Integrity Jerrica, to me, looks to be based on a mix of the original doll and the classic Jem/Jerrica box art.

Not too long ago, I was finding the Jem (Hasbro) dolls in the thrift stores. But recently they have been missing. I recall the classic Jem's had like a Barbie Bend and clik type joint system in the elbows and knees. Does the reproduction dolls follow suit?

The Integrity Jems don't have the click joints. They are jointed like Monster High.

Since my previous two mini-reviews were so popular, it's showtime Synergy!

Synergy had the same issues with her stand and hair gel. Her hair was also frizzier than the other two and more challenging to comb through. No issues with the earrings not fitting though, because she doesn't wear them. But she still does come with a pair of Jemstar earrings which can be put into a doll sized gift box for Jerrica. Nice touch.

Her clothes are pretty cool. The fabric is very glittery and shimmery. Totally 80s. The boots are wicked cool with a metalic sheen and working zippers with microphone shaped pulls. They were NOT easy to put on. The outfit fits snuggly and does limit her hip articulation.

The accessories are an extra set of hands (ungloved), dollsized gift box for Jerrica, Jemstar earrings and cardboard holographic schematics, Jacqui Benton voice imprint file and Jacqui Benton reel to reel master tape. A little bit of trivia, Jacqui Benton was Jerrica and Kimber's Mom and the basis for Synergy's appearance and voice.

Unlike Jem and Jerrica, whch are a mix of the dolls, toon and box art, Synergy is soley based on her cartoon appearance. Which I think is for the best in this case. Her cartoon appearance is the most iconic and the original doll only vaguely looked like the character on the cartoon.

Last one, Rio. Besides being Jerrica's boyfriend, he was also the road manager and technical engineer of Jem and the Holograms.

Rio had the same issue with his stand so it's good that he can stand up unassisted. There was so much gel in his hair it was like a 70s news caster hair helmet. Gale force winds could not move a hair out of place. Took a while to get a comb even through it.

Rio came with an extra set of hands, 80's style sports watch, cardboard stage plan, back stage VIP pass (nice touch) and a Jem duffle bag with working zipper. The bag is really nice. It's like a real duffle bag but shrunk to doll size. The clothes on these have all been outstanding and Rio's are especially nice. Real pockets and working zippers. Again, they are like real clothes just tiny. The shoes have actual laces and real soles. I was lucky enough to slip the shoes on without untying them. I can imagine tying those tiny laces would be a nightmare.

Rio, like Synergy, is based on the cartoon. Which is a good thing. The original Rio doll is a little goofy looking. The articulation on these is on par with 12 inch GI Joes or Monster High. Hard plastic bodies with ball joints.

80s toys and toons are kind of a passion of mine but probably a bit out most people's interest range here. I didn't get a lot of comments but a did get several hundred views of the thread and I do appriecate people taking the time to take a look at the toys even if it wasn't really their thing. I think it's fun to be exposed to toys you might not otherwise collect or be aware of.

The original Rio doll came with a purple brief case which I have currently misplaced.
