Kenner Sea Wees were a yearly staple during the late 1970s/early 1980s, poart fashion doll, part bath toy, these figures had a lasting popularity. In 1982, the theme was "Tropigals" and well, I'm not sure what the difference is..



Oh it's probably the grass skirts, look I'm not awesome with Girl's toys but I do love this stuff.

This is a toyline I completely blanked out. I had no recollection of these, and usually I recalled commercials for girl stuff. Cindy had these as a kid, and has picked up a few here and there in recent years.

The new ones look like a "Littlest Pet Shop" offshoot...or at least the animals do.

I had some of the first series boring colored ones, and always wanted the tropical ones because they were more funky colored, but never got them.

I played the heck out of them in the bathtub, and had my Chemtoy Jaws figure eat them all the time.

Kenner actually made a boys equivalent of Sea Wees called Li'l Loggers. They were little water squirting lumber jacks with sponge foam logs.

Yep. I met her during NYCC this year, her brother sells toys and had a Kenner Star Wars shipping case on display in his both. I asked for a price - turned out it was there just to spark conversation on the chance someone might have the like to sell - and we ended up talking about cases and promo material and how she's still on the search for a shipping box for these (as I am for, say, Remco monsters). I've got her and her brother's card around ehre somewhere, but the short version is: yes, someone collects them with the same passion we out into Mego, or monsters in my case, etc. Fun.
