    two old toys

    So;

    There were two old toy sets I vaguely remember, and for various reasons have been thinking of lately. Does anyone remember:

    -a building set where you used a little electric drill/welder doohickey to solder together plastic pieces and build stuff like toy cars and planes. It wasn't an obscure toy; I remember tv ads for it. (YThey'd use the drill to rev up the wheels of the car in the ad.)

    -little rubber dudes with smiling heads. Bendies; there was a cop, a construction worker, a fireman and one more I can't remember. (The cop was mostly blue, construction guy mostly green, fireman mostly red.... there was a yellow one too.)They had hats that'd pop on their heads, and lots of little accessories. These ones were kind of obscure. I think they were rack toys or somesuch.

    That building set sounds really familiar, I remember those ads too. Damned if remember what it was called though.

    And I never knew that they sold Village People bendies!

          Yes! YES!!!! BWAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!! I can remember they'd done a bunch of different sets, and then it all sort of disappeared.

            Hey Don,
            Are these the bendys you are after:

              Those are neat, but no. The ones I'm looking for were kinda cartoony; like an old 40's cartoon with pipes for limbs and an off-rectangle body.

                The toys you're thinking of might be from the World of Bendables line made by GLJ. They don't appear very often on eBay but I had some as a kid and they're great.

                  YEAH! That's them! I don't recognize too many of the ones in the pics, but that's them!
