Vintage Star Wars figures...1977-1985 help needed please

    Hey gang,
I need some help. A few years back i sold my entire vintage collection here at the museum. It was a pretty massive collection that i sold piece by piece. All of it being c9.5 and better. Some being from damaged cards even. I have decided to put together a loose mint collection again. Well the problem i am finding is there are a ton of different categories now on ebay. It used to be pretty cut and dry, vintage was 1977-85. So i am hoping some of you can help me out with some good searches you have saved on ebay. Like i said, I am looking for the original figures only. Nothing after the power of the force line in 1985 please. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Add Kenner to your search if those are the era you want .

Yeah... these days, I notice more and more sellers are erroneously listing the 90s relaunch of the Kenner SW line as "vintage"...

(the POTF2 line was still branded as Kenner until the late 90s, even though Hasbro had purchased Kenner years earlier).

You often have to wade through that stuff to get to the true Kenner vintage pieces.

For a while I was actively chasing the 12 backs but it was all repro stuff, piles of it. They use cute terms like "restored" which is misleading.

The only thing I can suggest is looking for individual figures seperately. That will cut down on alot of excess. I finished my loose set last year and it was pretty difficult but worth it in the end. Good luck!

Thanks guys, i appreciate the help. It has been about 8 years since i collected the real vintage figs. It is a whole lot of picking through the tons of newer stuff. I have done individual searches, and that seems to be the best way. I forgot how much i loved these figures.

Try doing a search with these terms (copy and paste)
"Star Wars" (vintage, carded, moc) -AOTC, -green, -galactic -disney, -freeze, -2009, -1996, -EP1, -1997, -2002, -episode, -flashback, -macquarrie, -clones, -clone, -ROTS, -POTJ, -POTF2, -saga, -2012, -VC, -2010, -30th, -otc, -target, -Jango, -TVC, -clone, -VOTC, -2011, -trilogy, -repro

i've had good success with this search.
Looking for MOC Star Wars 1978-1985.

I'm not sure if you're counting it but a complete set includes Blue Snaggletooth and Jabba's Band. That brings the total figure count to an even 100 not 96 as depicted by BT.
If I had only spent a tenth of the time studying Physics that I spent learning Star Wars and Baseball trivia, I would have won the Nobel Prize.

Thanks for all the tips guys, i really appreciate the help. I have had 4 complete sets in my lifetime. My complete carded and complete loose set were lost in the apt fire several years back now. Since then i built 2 other complete loose sets. I sold off one on ebay and the other one here a few years ago. I couldn't fight the bug any longer and i had to start again. I think this will be the one i keep till i die. So of course I'm only looking for loose figures that are perfect, with no flaws at all. It does seem like the prices they are going for have rebounded a bit. When i sold off the last collection, some went for a lot lower than what they were purchased at. I am finding that prices for mint loose ones are higher than i remember. it could also be that more people are keeping them in their collection, making the availability lower.

I still have my childhood full set, including some variations and Blue Snaggletooth.
Glad I held on to those.

These days, sellers on Ebay call everything vintage. Most annoying...
With the "repro packaging" figures, the word "vintage" has become totally useless.
