In the mid 1970's Gabriel toys released some of the highest quality action figures of the decade with their Lone Rangerline. Not known for action figures previously, the company spared no detail in the figures, their horses or the multitude of accessory packs.
Announcement Time: I am taking a short sabbatical from the interweb to recharge my batteries. I'll be back at the end of the month with more of the usual. Have a great weekend!
It would be SOOO easy for me to get into this line full blast. I only had Lone Ranger, Tonto, Silver and Scout as a kid, but they were VERY well loved and played with. I have those same figures now (the horses are my originals), but it wouldn't take much to try and get them all!
I had LR, Tonto, Silver, Scout and Butch Cavendish...I LOVED this line! Probably my third most played with group, behind Mego WGSH and GI Joe Adventure Team back in the day.
Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!
I got a LR and Tonto plus a Silver from an aunt one Christmas. She almost always got me clothes so I was thrilled to recieve them. Like Anthony they were some of my favorites right behind Megos and GI Joe AT figures.
Great update Brian, this was also my favourite line just ahead of Action Man as a kid. They were so well made, I loved the detail! I've got a nice collection of LR stuff now.
My cousins had the LR and Butch Cavendish. Marx's Johnny West was John Wayne and my Barbie was the damsel in distress. We used to build the town outta Lincoln Logs.
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
The Lone Ranger is very Near and Dear to my heart!.....My next door neighbor gave me The lone Ranger as a Christmas present. I had really wanted it and when I got it I went nuts! My parents ended up getting me the rest of them and i spent hours upon hours playing with them...Today My Current Lone Ranger and Silver sit on my Vintage Radio in my living room as a very cool conversation piece!
This is exactly what my sister got me for Christmas! I got the Lone Ranger and Silver. Very cool! Never did get Tonto, Scout or Butch Cavendish. What was cool was that it came with a mini comic telling the origin of the Lone Ranger. True enough, his face was never seen, but always in shadow until he put the mask on. Very cool!
I love everytime we have a thread on here about the Gabriel/Hubbley/Marx Lone Ranger line. Such a great job they did. My Lone Ranger, Tonto, Silver and Scout were loved, too.
Thanks for posting this great catalog, Brian and have a fine vacation!
