    Hasbro Charlie's Angels for 1977

The 1976 TV debut of Charlie's Angels was somewhat reviled by TV critics but a runaway hit with the audience which not only included men but young girls who saw the crime fighting trio as role models. This lead to merchandising and in 1977 "Angel Mania" hit toy shelves, Farrah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith signed their likeness to Mego for celebrity fashion folls but the main event was the Hasbro line of 9" figures based on the series.

Toy fair 1977 saw the launch of the dolls and their fashions/adventure packs, the line would grow in 1978 and actually include cast member changes.

I love this line, and have all the figures (and doubles), most of the fashions, and 2 fashion cases. The header picture of this post has Jill and Sabrina's outfits switched. The bodies are kinda built weird though. There's a large screw right in the middle of the lower torso and causes it to crack. These are the very same bodies Hasbro used for the Love doll line.

My sister had these, and even though they were slightly bigger, I borrowed them for use with my Megos, as damsels in distress. I know, I was a neanderthal, and going against the whole premise of Charlie's Angels.

Oh, and you guys can go on about Farrah all you want, but it was always Jackyln Smith for me.

The artworks onthese figure's packaging are just great. Print them at a large size and they would make groovy posters

I have them all except for Kris (Cheryl Ladd) and am missing the scarves on a couple of them. I agree completely with BaronSat about the card art, too. Someone should scan them and Photoshop the girls all together--that would look great.

I am very fond of this toy line too. Even more than the dolls themselves, I have always loved the artwork on the cardbacks. As an adult I have been able to purchase all 4 dolls -- both loose and packaged.

For the loose ones, I completly overhauled the figures and "modernized" them a bit. I used the female body from Toy Biz's Marvel Famous Covers line of 9" figures. The heads from the orginal Hasbro CA dolls fit perfectly on those bodies. I was even able to approximate custom dolls of Tiffany and Julie.

I am hoping to find someone with top notch Photoshop skills who can customize artwork so I can create matching custom cardbacks to accompany the Tiffany and Julie dolls. I have some ideas on how to make it a reality, just don't have the software or the skill. If anyone with Photoshop skills is interested in helping me out, please hit me up either by PM or e-mail me directly at [email protected] .... thanks.

I pay my therapist good money for personal little insights like: "Maybe you'd rather be right, than be happy." Except he didn't say that, the cashier at Target did.
