    The Mack Collection

My goodness, this was actually sold in a JC Penney Catalog. It's not often I am without speech....

Man I love this stuff. Funny thing (or perhaps not depending on your tastes), I actually own some of the things you've posted - not from this one mind you, although I could rock the yellow pants, that hat and the entire powder blue get-up. Ah, the joys of being an aging hipster...

Not that 36 is old, just old enough that I should know better. Would that I still had the hair!

Does the guy in the middle have a ribbon-tie hanging down over his zipper? How...liberated.

The hat officially makes that pimp-gear. Who knew JCP was after the prostitute management segment?

That hat would not look out of place at the Melbourne Spring Horse Racing Carnival.

        On a hot 22 year-old chick I mean.

On that dude it just appears to be some kind of practical joke or dare the other guys have put him up to.

JC Penney was in the business of actually trying to sell clothes to people for money, right? Wonder what the sell through rate was on those ensembles.

Honestly the baby-boomers should never have left the 60's, they've just been embarrassing themselves decade after decade since.

I think this picture was what was inside the Ark of the Covenant in Raiders of the Lost Ark that made the Nazi's heads explode!

I have a brother who is 10 years older than me...he graduated High School in the 70's while I was still in Elementary School.

Although he didn't have anything quite that bad, he did wear some funky clothes. Thank goodness he changed with the times and wears normal stuff now. We have a neighbor who is quite a bit older than us who still wears ugly garments from the 70's. We were at a charity dance one time and she was there with a bright orange corduroy jumpsuit thing....she told us she has had it since the 70's!

This was the peak of JCPenney's hipness. My god, that is HIP!

I can just imagine living in some midwest small town contemplating buying these outfits through the mail order catty-log.

Hey, were these guys auditioning for the part of Huggy Bear? The light blue set on the end is the most passable of the bunch. But show these pics to any woman in her 50s and ask her how many guys dressed like this approached them in singles bars?

                      "What's your sign, baby?"
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
