    Mission to Spy Island

Anyone know why when Hasbro released Mission to Spy Island as part of their "Timeless Collection" line, they changed Joe's uniform from the original black spy outfit to woodland BDUs?

Actually, the first time Mission To Spy Island was released in 1969, it was part of the Adventures of GIJoe line, before the fuzzhead Adventure Team. The original outfit had cammies, a ski hat, and black boots. When the Adventure team came out, the outfit was reworked to the black sweater and black pants.

I did not know that. Thanks. I have fond memories of the Adventure Team version and passed on buying the "cammie" version.

If it's just the clothes you're after, then you might try and GIJoe Hall Of Fame SWAT Assault uniform. It's got a real ski hat (as opposed to that plastic thing from the AT uniform), a blue and black sweater and black pants. The shoes won't fit a standard Joe figure, but will fit Hall Of Fame guys. The clothes will fit both, but a little snug on standard Joe figures. And though I don't actually have the AT Spy Island set, I do have enough components from other sets, to make my own (raft, dynamite, clothes, flashlight, copter pack).

Yep, it's the clothes that I was after as the accessories seem pretty easy to come by. I joined the G.I. Joe club and picked up their 2006 Exclusive "Foreign Adventurer" accessory set, which includes a black jumpsuit w/AT insignia, black jacket w/AT insignia, brown boots, brown shoulder holster, revolver, and AT dog tag.

I found a guy who makes replica Joe outfits and accessories and was going to buy the Spy Island outfit from him but the club exclusives won me over.
