Looks like it was a good weekend to score Marx play set pieces. I got 4 big bags of them out hunting on Sat.

Got two of these guy in one of the lots. Marked copyright 1972 on back. He is in a diving/jumping type bent knee position. Any ideas?

Also in the bags I found a Mattel RRRumbler cycle driver. he already helped to pay for a few issues of Adventure Comics (Dollar Comics part of the run) I picked up that day as well.

The white horse in the top left of the photo is the same as the horses that come with the Multiple Toys Planet of the Apes mini playset. http://plaidstallions.blogspot.com.a...-play-set.html




The horses have no saddle moulded on, and are sort of hollow underneath, plus their inside legs are flat. It's likely that they were also used in other playsets too I suppose.

I remember having a bunch of those brightly coloured dinos as a kid (the dimetrodons, T-Rex, Sabre tooth cats, etc.)
I loved those things.

Thanks for the info guys....I have the log... unfortunately, I sold the boots....grrr....I just got a nekkid Big Jim over the weekend...looks like he's gonna be sporting Josh's outfit for the time being. As for Dr. Steele, I have an arm, his head and now the pants.....not exactly ready to be put on display.....

Ya know what.....I think you're right. My Dr. Steel is wearing a PACK uniform that is probably from a carded set and I always thought it was his original outfit, but after checking a reference site, I think his original outfit was just those cut off black trousers. Cool.

The black shorts with fringe bottoms are pretty common, but I've not yet figured out what they go to. I have a few pairs of them here someplace.

The blue jeans vest & shorts is for Big Josh. You need an axe, brown boots, and a 2 piece log to complete the outfit. The black shorts with fringe bottoms are pretty common, but I've not yet figured out what they go to. I have a few pairs of them here someplace.

I have some stone archway pieces in different colors and a box for a Marx set (similar to the one you posted, but different).

I have another bag of dinosaurs that I think are ALL Marx that I did not take a picture of. It seems to me all the Marx ones have the name of the dinosaur and it's real size marked on them. They are a bit heavier and more detailed than others. Could some of these unmarked dinosaurs be Marx? That is what I'm trying to find out, but I do not think so. I am almost certain a lot of the ones pictured belong to a similar 1970's set, but I have only seen boxed examples on eBay.

Out of all the stuff I want to get ID'ed, the thing I am most interested in is in the previous post to the dinosaurs. It's a small little green devilish guy with a pitchfork.

Several of those dinosaurs are from Marx, as is the stone archway on the left. Other companies (even to this day) reuse old molds from these companies so it's hard to tell what's vintage or made by who. But the stone archway is a giveaway that someone at some point had a Marx playset.

I've always though collecting all the small plastic toys like dinosaurs and cowboys and indians etc would be a fun but very challenging toy hobby. There's got to be hundreds of different ones. Sorry, can't help with any identifications though.

Dinos. Not sure if any of these are Marx. But I know some belong to different playsets, others are most likely rack toys. If anyone can pin point certain ones, please help.

OK, got a mess here. This is just some of what came from a large box of stuff I bought. Anything that was marked "Marx" was set aside. Everything here has no marking at all, except for some COO ones (Hong Kong, China, Singapore, etc.).

Now, I'm sure some of it can be cheap-o generic stuff or gumball machine junk, but I am also certain much of it can be from various different Marx playsets. Many are also most likely are remold Marx.

But I thought I'd post some pics. Anything that can be ID'ed, please let me know.
