So I replaced it (as much as you can) with an identical one.

That is just so wrong. I'll never understand why some parents do that.

My one collecting regret is selling my REFORM SCHOOL GIRL vintage paperback and comic. These I have not been able to replace.

I was already a collector in the 90's but found myself at a point needing money so I took a number of things to the periodic antique show at the malls to sell:

French carded Fantastic 4 (I had already traded a number of these because they had a supply in my local toy stores in the late 80's but this was my set)
          Boxed Shazam!
          Boxed Aquaman
          Boxed Lizard

and sold them for money that would be a pittance a few years later in the Ebay age. Plus I wish I still had the figures. I did get another Aquaman and Shazam but the replacements are T1 while I originally sold T2 and I feel that T2 versions are still in my future.

If it helps lessen the pain, those figures would almost certainly be facing greying heads and/or broken knee pins at this point. I had some French carded FF figures that I sold in the mid 90's, and as they were already starting to show problems, I don't feel too bad about letting them go.

Yeah, they were starting to go gray for sure.

15 years ago, I bought a lot of figures from a toy store that was going out of business. I paid $10 each, and sold them for $40 a piece. Seemed like a great deal.
A few years later, a collector bought my few remaining ones. For $600 each...
                  I could have been rich...

The only stuff I've ever really regretted selling are the one-of-a-kinds like Aussie exclusive vintage Star Wars stuff, which I've sold on a couple of occasions due to 'godfather' offers.

I do kick myself also though for ebaying a Dr Who showbag from the 1978 Royal Melbourne Show. I wasn't collecting showbags at the time and I had picked it up cheap, just a couple of bucks. Sold it for well over a hundred IIRC which I was wrapped about at the time, but now cringe over. It's apparently a bit of a Who grail item to boot. Double D'Oh!

When I was 13, RIGHT before I decided to get serious about toy collecting, I sold off the vast majority of my non-super hero toys. I thankfully kept my MOTU and M.A.S.K., but sold off most of my GI Joe: RAH and Transformers. I had the Autobot and Decpticon cities still in the box, from just a year or so earlier, and sold them along with the rest at a yard sale my mom had. Totally my idea, not hers. I actually made a pretty tidy profit for a kid, but If I had those now, I could sell them and take a family vacation!!!

About 10 years ago, I sold the Hasbro Masterpiece Optimus Prime I had. I've regretted it ever since. I shouldn't sell Transformers!!!

well, i moved to the beach and sold a huge amount of my collection since i moved to a smaller house to take care of my dad with dementia...so, i fell lose for all the stuff i sold/donated, but ...I LIVE AT THE BEACH...so idk, i live on.

Some stuff, i do not know if i still have it or not:
                          Example:
i was watching Shazam! the other day and i wondered..did i donate the Shazam family of figures? the $10 ones? Because i bet those would go great with the Batman TAS i kept..
But I do not recall if i still have them or not (the small amount of stuff i kept is in storage)

This one goes back a while. I had a huge collection of Wacky Packages around1976 that I had in a bag in my room. My mother found the bag, thought it was junk and tossed it. Still hurts! Next up were some vintage minty late 60s early 70s Hot Wheels that my older brother located while I was in college in the 80s and gave to our 5 year old nephew, who immediately lost them all outside.

I sold my Megatron to pay for stuff in college...and kinda regret it. I never liked Megatron[EDIT: The Original figure, due to the horrid robot mode], but i'll never afford another one.[EDIT: i do have a low quality G1 Megatron now, got for $10 at a toy show, but he has none of the extra parts]
