    What WAS that toy??

It was a build your own western town out of thin Popsicle sticks kind of wood. The really cool thing was you cut, sanded glued your entire western town, on these illustrated cardboard templates, with the aid of this yellow hand cranked cutting, sanding, splitting machine.

Built the entire town up all by myself only to come home from school one day to find my brother and a friend setting fire to the town. Since they'd started the conflagration I decided to join in only to have a huge disc shaped ember land on my hand burn it and leave a scar which to this day remains. --- just saw it staring back at me as I was typing and decided to ask about it.

A good friend of mine had that toy, but did not have the patients to put it together. I remember staying the night at his house and spending all day putting that thing together while he watched TV.

I dont remember the name, but that was a great toy. It was like running a mini saw mill.

Here's a link to what I believe you were talking about. Has a pic as well. From the bit of research I did on this inquiry, my best guess would be Lincoln Logs.

That looks familiar. Wish the yellow sawmill machine was in the pic.

Definitely not Lincoln Logs. Those were literally small hinged log shaped "logs" made of wood.
