    Tube Socks

I think I wore tube socks almost every single day in the 70's. Heck, I think I even kept 'em around for several years into the 80's. I used to tell myself that the two colors were cool because they were like the colors of NFL teams. It was a special treat to find a pair with the blue and gray of my beloved Cowboys.

The other day I came across these shorter and hipper version of the footwear in Urban Outfitters. I couldn't resist picking up a few pairs. I know this is a bit tangential to our 70's celebrating space, but I felt like sharing with some who might appreciate it.

Remember tube socks with superheroes on them? I had all of them, and at least the villain art was the same as WGSH used. Joker, Penguin, Riddler.

I wore tube socks up to my knees. With short, short cut-offs. What a nerd!

Haha! I wore them all the time! I truly miss the different color bands. I have a couple pair with the same color bands, but rarely wear them. Nostalgia rules!

Not until you mentioned them now. I loved those!!! I think I had Batman. Man, I'd love to get a pair of those again. Once a nerd...

Nothing sexier than a girl in a long tee and a pair of tube sox. IMHO.

A company called Toastee made those superhero socks back in the 70s.

Toastee, that's good to know. That's got to be a hard collectible to come by, how many of those survived in mint condition...

edit after google searching: everything I'm finding are slipper type socks with leather soles not the tube sox I remember. Still could be the same company?

They usually go for around $19-$35 for most heroes. Actually I've seen more still in the bag than loose. After checking into it they're called Toastee Sox/Socks but made by Dawnelle. Sorry about that

Tim, those are awesome, but they are not the socks I was thinking about. I have a vague recollection of tube socks where the hero was further up. Maybe on the calf or front of the shin. And they didn't have a "sole."

Am I making this up?" Anyone else recall such socks? Since my memories are vague and I think DC, I'm thinking 74-75-ish?
