    Kidco Silver Warriors/Space Defenders Catalog

Kidco (a pretty logical name for a toy company) made some pretty unassuming toys during the 1970s, the most interesting items they produced in 1979 are not one but two different lines of Shogun Warrior inspired toys.

Sliver Warriors and Space Defenders are the things you find at toy shows or in lots and have no idea as to what they are. Hopefully this catalog solves some childhood and/or toy collector mysteries

    Hmmmm....

Some of those look familiar....the Space Defender on the left looks like "Voltares V" with a different head, and the other is definitely Danguard Ace with a new head.

1979...My first year in high school. Now I understand why a lot of this stuff doesn't look familiar to me. That's when the next echelon of toys began rolling in. Pretty soon you had Transformers, He-Man, Smurfs, and the retooled Joes. I remember most of that only because I was buying it for my brother's kids in early 80's for birthdays and Christmas presents. I do remember buying the older of the two a carded Mego Batman one year which I had picked up from Children's Palace. I think they carried carded Batmans, Robins, and Hulks until the mid to late 80's.

I bought a Silver Warrior for a friend as a birthday present, purchased as a K-mart. It was a cool toy.

Those are based on the super robots from the anime series "Blocker Gundan 4 Machine Blaster", which was popular in Italy at the time. These probably have analogous toys in Italy by Ceppi Ratti or someone.

Modern toys of a couple of the characters:

Silver Warriors rock! I had them all you would blow into their back and the propeller would shoot off the chest.
