I love pogs! And I got very good at it during the craze! My class would have been in serious trouble if we were playing for keeps! I have Star Trek TNG pogs and POTA pogs.

Those Japanese pogs aren’t Pogs, but are Menko cards. Somewhat similar concept in gameplay, but not exactly since to my knowledge kids would get a whole set of Menko cards to play a game and then spit it between players whereas Pogs are acquired one at a time and can have mixed designs?
Anyway if you want to find more of the Japanese stuff just do a search for “Menko” on eBay. Tons of stuff out there since it was/is a cheap game inserted many times as a bonus in Japanese kids magazines.
There was a large find of Batman Menko cards in Toronto of all places....
Do you have any details of this? It's kind of fascinating given the smaller Japanese community in Toronto. Hard to think of many Japanese grocery stores or bookstores that could have possibly been sitting on that for decades.
If I were to speculate, much Japanese toy/paper/stationary product did end up in Hong Kong... which could have made it's way to chinese bookstores along Spadina or Dundas St. which have all shut down within the past two decades. I'd imagine there were probably all kinds of stuff in those basements like that.
