Everything you ever wanted to know about Seaworld and Superheroes

A couple of years ago I got a friendly email asking me if I'd ever spoken to any of the folks who actually participated in the Superheroes at Sea World show. I wrote the person back and said no but if they ever did I'd love to hear about it. Then I just forgot it, probably because I saw something shiny.

Well, thankfully Marc Tyler Nobleman didn't forget it as he's done an incredible amount of research into the subject and uncovered someincredible photographs and new information with his new blog series, here are some tidbits I didn't know:
    • Much like the Mego World's Greatest Superheroes, Tarzan was injected into the Justice League.
    • Perry White, Lois and Jimmy Olsen were also involved. Although I presume that Perry White stayed dry
    • The Green Arrow and not (as previously reported here) Aquaman was known for the death defying high dive.

I could go on and on but you might as well check it out for yourself, if you've ever had a question about the whole Seaworld Superhero experience, it's probably answered in this wonderful blog series.

I feel like this is the biggest event of my childhood that I somehow missed. We were within driving distance of the Ohio shows too. Sigh.

Awesome blog and photos! I'm stunned.

I saw the shows at Sea World of Ohio. I remember the show being pretty cool but I was more excited about buying comics at the shows than anything else

That's a pretty savage looking Riddler. I could totally see him in the Nolan Bat-verse instead of...Bane?

I never got to see any of the superheroes water shows. All I got as a child was Shrine Circus guests. I did get to meet and get autographs from Jason of Star Command and Drago. I also seem to remember getting an Adam West signed picture, but I doubt it's authenticity.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

                  ^ A shame--I loved that place.

So the SWSH started in the Aurora, OH park--neat, I must have seen them as they premiered.

It appears from the blog photos that other parks added more JLA members--like Green Lantern.

They all just struck me as a kid as perfectly comics-and WGSH-compatible, even though I knew they were all water-skiers.

Having worked as a costumer, I still think the oufits are great.

                    Hi all,

I'm the fool who spent time tracking down these skiers to prepare this blog series. Glad you like it!

Drzsmith - I'm eagerly awaiting your photos! Are you still planning to post?

PNGwynne - yes, show started in OH, where the cast included Captain and Mary Marvel, and then opened in Orlando (while staying in OH), where the Marvels were apparently not included. I believe both parks had other second-tier heroes Flash, Green Lantern, Black Canary. The villains at both parks were all Batman villains except one of the parks also had Captain Cold; I don't know which offhand. You might've seen in the post that went up today that the skiers talk about how professional the costumes were (and expensive!).
