    The Shadow Merchandise Gallery

As a collector, one of the bigger mysteries I've enjoyed is the interesting amount of merchandise that appeared in the 1970s devoted to the character "The Shadow" whose heyday seemed to be at least 30 years prior to my birth.

^^^ I think he and Bats had a time-share agreement.

Well, since Kane and Finger swiped a LOT of Shadow elements for Batman, it only seems fitting. In fact the very first Batman story "The Case of the Chemical Syndicate" was a rewrite of a Shadow pulp tale.

Awesome stuff. So the company was named Madison? Did they make any other toys that we know of?

          I did not know that.

Not that I know of, it just could be that the Shadow was their only license, I'd love to find one of their catalogs.

Cool stuff! I'm a huge fan of the radio series. How great would it have been to have his alter ego LaMont Kranston or the lovely Margo Lane accessories and figures too.

And I would love to see that coloring book myself!

"The weed of crime bares bitter fruit!*
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

Makes my day to hear it. I don't collect Fighting Furies, I just think they're neat and it bugged me that the one site that had info on them disappeared. So I made my own.

That tiny Shadow in the Helicopter Cockpit is SO cute!

I remeber seeing a rack toy at the grocery store in the 70's of a Shadow airplane.
It was cheap and bagged on a card. It had stickers with "Shadow" on it.

                    That Pinball game is awesome.
I had no idea they made Shadow toys. I wish I would have seen them. Looking back being Shadow for Halloween would have been much cooler than an Imperial Stormtrooper but peer pressure was inescapable after 1977.

I collect mostly Batman/Batmobile-Green Hornet items from the 60's. I came across this Shadow "batmobile" several years ago and posted on the 1966batmobile board. The Shadow car is molded off the AHI batmobile and here are some more photos.

and I have since added a boxed example of the larger Crime Fighter Car
