CLASSIC CREATURE from Black Lagoon and SANTO COMICS

I don't know if anyone else has seen this or mentioned it. It's a Classic Toy meets Classic Comics thing, Lucha Libre Toy Action!!! Brought to us from our good friends accross the boder in Mexico. I found this old Santo comic circa 1964 from Edar of Mexico. These comics are fummetti a type of photo comic with wash drawings in sepia tones. The cool thing is the Creature from the Black Lagoon model is the villian. The creators took the Creature model photographed it and used it in the story. I love when genres cross over.
Anyone seen this type of thing before?

That's pretty cool. I was wondering why the Creature was holding the same pose in every frame...

Awesome. So does he fight Santo? I know some of the Santo films (especially the later ones) would feature him against some monsters and other known characters, so I shouldn't be surprised the tie-ins did the same.

Wanted: Legends of the West (Empire & Excel) and other western historically-based figures. Send me an offer.
Also interested in figures based on literary characters.

Yes Santo takes on the Creature and if I remember right he gives him a super gut punch. I have a few of early Santo movies and it's monsters all the way. Can you guess who my favorite old Lucha Libre hero is???

Love this stuff. My aunt used to send me British comics like this, they were kind of creepy.

            I also heart El Santo!

Perhaps he was having an arthritis attack or something? Maybe he had something stuck in a gill...?

DOH!!!!!!!!!! Posting the cover would be a good idea. I will try to take some pics of Santo/Creature action when time permits.

This comic was one that Roy Thomas bought when he went to Mexico he wrote about the trip and Mexcio's comics scene in Alter Ego. The article was reprinted a few years back in Alter Ego.
