    Jigglers of the Apes

Mixing my fondness for Jigglers with my Ape Mania is a dangerous cocktail. These Jigglers made by Ben Cooper (surprisingly not AHI) are a happy childhood memory for me and I was excited when my pal Mike J sent me a shot of one in a baggie, something I had not seen before. More on these cool l'il guys after the jump.

Here is the Caesar as I remember him, sold in a display box with a tag. I love how these Jigglers seemed to be based on "Battle for the Planet of the Apes" and not the original movie or the TV series, they are both very tied to that film as I will elaborate.

The "Warrior Ape" struck me as oddly familiar when I saw him a few years ago, I snapped him up at a show but it took me forever to figure out where I knew him from. What bugged me is when did they ever show a shirtless ape in the film?

The answer is here, the original theatrical poster (which I've owned and had on display for 25 years) I'm embarrassed it took me this long to figure this out...

I always thought these would have made great educational toys... Their poses seem to be based on actual hand traffic signals...

More great stuff-- The only shirtless apes I can remember getting real any screen time in the films are Ursus and Zaius in the sauna scene from "Beneath the Planet of the Apes".

Shirtless in Escape for the "Borneo Orangutang" scene.

I LOVE jigglers. That such a scary thing is floppy and is meant to hang from a rearview is great!.
          Love the knife.

Ceasear looks fun as a nice attempt at screen accuracy.

Never saw the baggie before. I vaguely remember them being sold loose with a tag. That's pretty cool.

I loved jigglers, but my kids are really neutral on them. Aren't kids supposed to love weird rubber like that?

Was a POTA "Warrior" mentioned in the films (I remember soldiers) or marketed a lot in other products?

I only ask because of a Ben Cooper costume that labeled the character as "warrior."

Maybe the whole "soldier" thing was a bad trip in the early seventies?

If Cipsa Urko can command an ape army without pants on, Warrior Ape should be allowed to fight shirtless

I even saw a red skull jiggler once. CRAZY!

I like the Ben Cooper costume awesome knife! (drawing ) . And a nice Warrior name badge for grown ups handing out candy.
