1981 Fisher Price Adventure People Catalog

After blasting on the scene and creating the 3 3/4" revolution six years earlier, the Fisher Price Adventure people were still going strong in a Science Fiction crazed world.

While still focusing on earth bound fun like camping and driving race cars, the Adventure People were also looking to the stars in 1981 with the launch of the Alpha Space Probe, a real sign of the times.

I somehow totally missed out on this line, even though it was out during my best toy years. I remember first seeing these at flea markets back in the 90s and wondering what they were. I'm really not sure how that happened!!!

Man I had all of those except for the race cars. the Shuttle, the boat, the sub, the x-ray people, the Jeep with the tent, and the parachut set got played with everyday at my old house. When little joes came out they made for some good play with all these sets. On top of all that the mego General Lee and the CHPs cycles were always in the mix too.

There will always be a special place in my heart for Adventure People. We had a few of space guys and Alpha Probe when they came out, but one week before Christmas in 1979 our house burned down and we lost everything. The crazy thing was we were just one of three houses that burned down within like a two week time frame in the area. So the paper did an article and a bunch of local merchants got together and donated stuff to our family and others. My folks didn't participate much, but they did accept some stuff for my brother and I.

One of the local sporting goods stores gave us every ball you could think of (we liked sports but... action-figures were our love), as an after thought they were like "would you guys like some of these Adventure People?" and thus we got almost 2 of about everything they had... I still remember the pile of cards and boxes on the floor, and being physically tired of opening figures...of course we wanted Star Wars figures, but these guys made for some fun times until the "Force" could be with us once again...

I had the Frogman and the "Daredevil" motorcycle rider (along with a racecar driver). This was a good line; FP was always one of the best.

Wanted: Legends of the West (Empire & Excel) and other western historically-based figures. Send me an offer.
Also interested in figures based on literary characters.

The only Adventure People I ever owned (I think) was two sets that I got off of the "toy cart" at the hospital when I was there for some minor surgery when I was 8. One was a guy in a kayak and the other was a man and a woman in a raft. I never really played with them much though.

However, a friend of mine back then had the mobile TV news crew set that I thought was the coolest thing. It had a van with a control center in the back, cameraman, reporter, etc. I liked the Adventure People in general, but that was the only set that I specificly remember really wanting. I don't think I ever saw it in an actual store.

Pretty sure I would have wanted that space shuttle had I known about it at the time though. :-)

Still have the Van and motorcycle set. Although its not all together its still there along with the hellacopter and various parts of that set.
I had so many good times as kid playing with adventure people. It was so fun to mix them up with star wars and gi joe's.
My niece plays with my old adventure people toys. Its amazing how they have held up after all these years. They don't make toys built to last nowdays.
When I go to my parents house and see my niece playing with them it reminds me of when I used to play with them when I was her age.
One of the best lines of toys ever!!

Said it before and I'll say it again, this might be my favorite toyline ever. I have so many fond memories of these as a kid, and oddly enough I don't have many of them now in my collection. I remember though not being quite as taken with their space toys from the early 1980s, but I like them much more now.
