    childhood fav score from today

i went to a estate sale today. they had a rowe jukebox for sale. we I asked if it worked they said no. I looked it over and said why not i take a chance. it was cheap.

I got it home and unloaded. i plugged it in and hit the service switch inside the machine and the lights went on. tossed a quarter in and it played.

That's cool! I've always wanted a jukebox. Does it use 45 records?

it plays 45's and it came loaded with 200 of them. after a good cleaning and some light trim molding repairs it should look great. it's a loud unit 125 watts and the volume works. it's like has a sound that is very full. i thought it would be a weak sounding jukebox cause the speakers on top looked small but it came make your ears ring if you wanted it to.

at first I was thinking it would be something cool to try and modify with a car stereo set up. thats why i didnt mid buying a unit that didnt work. I couldn't build something like this for the 30.00 I paid for it. when it turned on and i heard the records start moving my heart started to beat faster and then it started playing sweet emotions by areosmith.

$30? That's a steal! Are you going to keep the 45's in it that it came with or put your own in?

mid 70' to early 90's. i say early 90's because of the bobby brown one. on a side note it stopped working this afternoon. after looking through the insides i notice all the boards had been cleaned and service in 1991. they all have service stickers on them and wiring harnesses rebuilt in 91 as well from the same company. so i am gonna have to find where the short is now.

my son turned it off while it was playing, it lights up and the power supply lights up. the lights are working. just the computer control center is acting up.

                      30 spent on the unit
35 spent on the service book
                      ?? spent on repair

it has now become a money pit!

well after 5 hours of testing, cleaning, some new soldering work on a few boards and changing out some bad diodes and resisters it is now working again.

repair coast was around 17.00 in parts and 5 hours of my time.

now to buy some new records like the old days and I'll try to host a 70's-80's block party.
