    Tang Lunar Rover toy

Looking for pics of the Lunar Rover toy that was included with a canister of Tang sometime in the early 70s. I have one of these, but its missing some pieces. I'd like to try and replicate the missing parts, but I lack good pics- any info would be appreciated!

    Pics stolen from another site:

that's pretty cool tim . looks like it would be easy to mold for pieces too. will have to add that to my EBAY " to look for " list.

Thanks! I got this one a few years back on Ebay. I think I found it by looking for Tang moon rover. Another helpful search might be to look under breakfast or food premiums. It should be easy to replicate the parts except for the rear hollow axle because it's so thin and small.

Thanks Tim! I'm missing the seats, and that middle console and that lever on the wheel. Any pics of those parts would be great!

How strange. I was just going through a box of toy parts today and came across one of those astronauts not knowing his origin. Awesome!

I finally got one of these, but for the life of me I can't figure out how the rubber band-powered wheel system works. I need to replace the rubber band, but where does it go?

                  Any help out there??

That's pretty neat! I've never seen one of those before.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

It's an easy fix. The rubber band goes through the inside the rear axle. On the left side (driver's side)it will go around the outside of the 2 prongs to hold it in place. On the right side it will go around the outside wheel bar(lever) on the outside and fit into the slots holding it onto and against the wheel. So when you wind up the wheel bar (lever) it twists the rubber band making the wheels move. It takes a rubber band just the right size in order for it to be tight enough to hold everything in place.

Now I see- the winding lever against the ground is what keeps the right end of the rubber band stantionary while it unwinds?

Also- how do the astronauts say on? They aren't attached to the seats...

A rubber band goes around them and the rover to hold them in place.
