One of the first postings I ever made for this site concerned an old toy set I had when I was very young that was like tinker toys except that you built a space monster (gamera-ish). No one back then on this site (and a few others) had any idea what the hell I was talking about. A year later I bumped the thread and within 8 mins I finally had a name for the collection. That old post and info is below:
need your help: old toy info - Mego Talk
A random search the other day to see if the toy commercial for this set was up anywhere, I found one of those kind of bogus Ebay sites that list Ebay auctions. A quick trip to Ebay itself showed this auction still going. NEW and still sealed in the box from old store stock, the rarity of finding it in such a condition made it a must have until I saw the asking price of 150.00 (which was somewhat cheap). However the seller offered a best offer. I said 100$ and sure enough I had my invoice. Mazu arrived the other day and I have been ecstatic since
I first never thought I would find anything on this rare toy collection itself, nor the fact that I would actually find Mazu, or the fact of getting a MIB edition. The box is sort of large being 15" high and 25" long. Giving that to a 7 year old in 1980 this would appear to be a tremendously large toy
In the end I need to thank the Museum, because if it were not for this wonderful board the memories and the search for this 31 year old toy would still be stuck in my head with no leads in actually finding out just what it was
Thanks again, below are pics of my Mazu, kind of scary that my user name almost reflects this
