need help from Captain Action peeps - pricing ?

    Hiya folks,

I am looking for some opinions on price for a boxed 2nd ed. CA with the parachute.

I just picked one up that is not quite as described and I am trying to come to a fair resolution with the seller.

For those familiar with ca sets - Set is almost complete (tho it was described as mint/complete)
It is missing the belt, and the chest badge/emblem is suffering from corner bends. The box and instructions are good - perhaps a c7 sort of shape. There is no insert, nor original baggies for the accessories. The parachute is (re)wrapped as original, tho there is a minor tear on the orange jacket part. The sword is pretty well nicked up. The hat, boots, and gun are good.

    thanks in advance

Hmmmm. Sounds like your talking about the third edition CA. The third issue came with the parachute, instruction sheet, flasher ring, and yellow mini comic book. So if you listed everything, your missing a lot more than just the belt. The second edition only added the ring and mini comic. The first edition had no ring or mini comic, but did contain a two-sided fold out mini poster. Sounds to me like you have a piece together there. And since you have a piece together, it might be worth asking does your CA 's costume have a more purple Phantom color costume instead of the traditional blue? I ask because some of the second edition figures had a variant outfit which used the Phantom purple instead of the traditional CA blue, which is extremely rare. Having the parachute and third edition box in good condition is a big plus though. Assuming that IS the third edition box? Does it advertise the parachute accessory at the top? If it doesn't, then your missing the correct box for the third edition as well. Nothing mint about this figure at all. Holler back and let me know which box you have. Hard to give an estimate without that distinction.

It is third ed. then. I have always considered the red/blue ranger change a sort of variant a and b situation and the parachute box as the second box. All a matter of semantics tho. It is a parachute box. No flicker or book. Instructions are there, parachute is there as well as the harness, tho they are not in the original packaging.

Not a purple costume. If it were, I would not be concerned about the badge wear.

I will recap: Parachute box in good shape
Cappy in good shape. later version with the single head/neck
boots, cap, and gun - good
costume - good shape, but the badge has edge wear
sword - scratched and nicked, but not broken
parachute and harness - harness has a small armhole tear. Not sure about the parachute as I have not unwrapped it and plan to keep it wrapped.
instructions are there and in good shape

no belt, no flicker, no comic.

      thanks again

btw: only looking for a ballpark estimate/range really. Doesn't have to be laser precise.

I would say $200 to $225. Having that 3rd edition box in great shape and the parachute accessory is the critical value here.

Thanks for the assist there. He may be going back to the seller. If I decide to keep him, I will post a pic up if'n y'all are interested.

I'd like to see the pics.. Just answering your PM, I wouldn't put him as high. Obviously the graphics on the C7 box would be important (no water damage, any edgewear, etc..), but the stated condition of the outfit and parts (without the comic) would go for average pricing.

Collecting/upgrading the other items piece-by-piece would help the value. The comic alone usually goes for $50+ if in good shape.

Having the parachute still folded is super, as is keeping the harness intact (most haven't survived well..). Without pics, I'd perhaps go closer to $100-150.

I'd agree with MIB41 about the rare Purple outfit variation..: It's kinda cool and I've seen them at shows, but personally never wanted one over a super-nice standard blue outfit.

Like most advice, I'd monitor pricings and value with completed sales on eBay.
              Peace.. Through Superior Firepower.

david - thanks for the input; very much appreciated.

My own thoughts are at about a buck and a quarter for it, but I was wanting to see what others felt before I made the decision to keep or return the item as it is not as described.
