    Kirk action figure

Am I describing this wrong? Does anyone know who makes it?

Vinyl figure made by Hamilton I believe. Several on eBay right now with BINs under $10. Very little collector interest.

I think it was Applause that made these. There was a whole set of Classic TV Trek. I could never find the whole range of characters. Some of the likenesses are very good. I had a couple of the Next Gen figs and Trek 6 movie Kirk. If the heads could be copied and shrunk slightly they would make excellent Trek Mego customs. There are similar figures for Star Wars characters also with decent liknesses.

Hamilton/Presents held the license in 1991, and made TOS crew. Here's another example of Kirk, one of several on eBay:

Star Trek Captain Kirk Vinyl Figure Doll, Hamilton 1991 - eBay (item 130162374216 end time Mar-23-11 15:00:05 PDT)

Applause took over the license in 1994 and cranked out lots of characters from TNG, DS9, and movie Kirk, like you mentioned.

All go for much less than what they originally retailed for..

Interesting it says it's vinyl but I don't see how.

Its hollow and the arms are seperate. Like an old Horizons model kit.

I like they made Quark and a generic Ferengi as they never did for the 9"playmates line.

You're right, it's not. I made the mistake of calling it vinyl after seeing auctions refer to it that way.

So I unearthed an old Trek collectible reference book.. your figure is made of plastic by Hamilton, and is 10.5" tall. Enesco (previously Hamilton), then made TNG crew in the same style in 1992/93.

Applause then started cranking out vinyl figures (only 9" tall) in 1994.

                Phew! Confusing..

Interesting. Maybe 10 years from now he will be worth more then he retailed for.
