Hello everyone. Ive been collecting diecast and model cars for around 4 years and the interest is starting to die on me. My interest in anything with wheels will never die however and I am starting to grow fond of vintage toys. I have been starting to collect the M.A.S.K cars, Kenner SSPs, and Stompers along with some g1 transformers (vehicles of course). I was born in 89 so im still quite young. Im aware of the matchbox, hotwheels, dinky, corgi...etc. I just wanted to ask if they were any neat vintage vehicle toys that you know about.

Husky, Yatming, Tomica are somw other diecast companies. You will see really good detail on many of their cars. Larger size you can never go wrong with Tonka, Nylint, Buddy L, Tootsietoy (more small to mid range size), Hubley, Ertl are a few of the many metal toy comapnies. I There are also some pretty decent plastic companies as well, Processed Plastic, Amloid, and Gay Toy Company. -
Well, I don't buy much in the way of cars, unless it's the Batmobile or something; however, I recently picked up an Ertl Camaro promotional car off eBay. It's Hardees #90 from the old "Road Runner" commercials. Basically, the commercials featured a stock car driver named Road Runner and his mechanic buddy. This was way before NASCAR got big, like 1981 or something. Here's an example. Also, I've been thinking about getting into Stompers. Loved them as a kid.Comment

Corgi is a great company for most Forum Member sas it had so many movie licences: Trek, Bond, Superman.
I thought stompers were cool as a kid too. I had the A Team helicopter that "dropped off" the Mr T van running VROOM!
My bottom line with toy cars is I dont like vehicles with no driver. Weird . But as a kid I wanted nothing to do with driverless cars.
Guess thats why I liked Motorcycles and the rubber riders.
Also cant go wrong with Ertl. late 1980s they had a lot of NICE Batman diecast stuff. The movie Batwing was very cherry.Comment

Hello and welcome to the wonderful (that is an understatement) Mego Museum,
I have been a die hard Hot Wheels collector since the end of 1994. I knew what a Treasure Hunt was before most folks even seen them.Needless to say that I got in at a really great time.
I too have slowly lost the will to collect HW's like I use to. I have soo many now that it is sickening. The sad part about it is that most everyone else does to by now.
I cannot count the amount of collectors that I have ran into along the way. Most all have the same story. "I have a basement or garage or room full of Hot Wheels. This is what kind of turned me off from collecting them like I once did. I still like Hot Wheels just not as much as I love my Mego's.
In answer to your inquiry of what vintage cars to collect I would say go with Mego.
They are harder to find, not everyone has a basement full of them and they are well.....Mego. That is enough reasoning right there to want to collect them IMO.
Here is a recent shot of some of my Mego cars. I am still not done arranging my Mego toy room yet. I just got back from spending the winter in AZ so now I am catching up at my second home in Misery.
Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009
